Wolfgang Welsch is one of the most famous contemporary postmodern philosopherand aesthetician in German. His ideas generated in the context of postmodern, and alsoretains rationalism speculative characteristics of the German philosophy. Prudent rationalanalysis has always been permeated in his doctrine. with the concept "horizontalrationality" as the starting point, Welsch identified modern and post-modern’s boundary,then, he defined "horizontal rationality" as the solving suggestion regarding modernproblem, finally, he undid aesthetics by "horizontal rationality" on the basis of to revealthe aesthetic malpractice.In this regard, the thesis is launched in three parts, the material sought in the hands ofa limited basis, to digging deep Welsch’s theory on "horizontal rationality", and will regardthe "horizontal rationality" as a clue to modern background after fully explain hispostmodern thought and aesthetic point of view.First, this thesis interprets the definition of the "horizontal rational" concept inWelsch’s "post-modern" from the perspective of postmodernism.And revealsWelsch’"horizontal rationality" through a brief introduction about Welsch’s life, works,the main ideas and a summary of the major postmodern pedigree position, including hisnew understanding of the rational, as well as the most significant features of horizontalrationality".Secondly, This thesis analyzes Welsch’s way to integrate aesthetics domains,cognition domains and ethics domains from the perspective of aestheticization, analyzesthe way to connect the true, the good, the beautiful, and analyzes whether horizontalrationality will be extended to the basic discipline or not by taking advantage ofaestheticism.Finally, this thesis discusses Welsch’s reconstructing of aesthetics. This new aestheticconcepts should have a "horizontal rationality" feature: embracing diversity, respectingheterogeneous. This new aesthetics expands the semantic factors of aesthetics from theinside of aesthetics and advocates to respect non-aesthetic from the outside of aesthetics.In addition, This new aesthetic from the horizontal rationality perspective appeals to attachgreat importance to the blind spots, auditory culture,and the exchanging, penetrations andtransformations in disciplines.
