This article discusses the political intensions and extensions of the wood engravings which have a distinct period characteristics and the feature of class motivation in<People Pictorial Magazine(JinSui)>,which had published volumes 32 during the period of 1946-1947 under the CPC in border regions of Jinsui which located in the border between Shensi and Suiyuan province.The pictorial magazine originated with the guidelines of mass people agreed strategy and influenced badly by the Mao’s speech with Yan’an Forum on Literature and Art during the period of the agrarian reform. Undoubtedly the CPC tried their best to make it become the platform of political announcement both play the role of revolutionary reclamation and ideological remolding which should give enough political language for the processing of agrarian reform and as a weapon to control public opinion and announce the justifiability of political power under the CPC.As a prominent fine art, wood engravings which posted in pictorial magazine must meet the standard of political justice,so as the appreciation to the mass people and the rules influenced by Mao’s Speech. This article focuses on these kinds of pictures and tries to analysis the process of its carving\adjusting and become the imagination as it presents with multiple subjects such as history\visual arts and fine arts.Though the magazine located the primary audience on the agrarian people in border regions, it determined the artistic form of expression of wood engravings is pictures with textual explanations in order to implant agrarian people revolutionary and reform ideology through popularizing the same themes wood engravings.In order to implant the revolutionary and reform ideology, the magazine editors selected strictly the engraver’s pictures which can present a certain scene reflected contemporary political and economic affairs undergoing both countryside and country. The countryside scenes come from the agrarian reform and class division which had been buzzing with activity in border regions, which were regarded two main domestic affairs in CPC during the 3rd revolutionary war. The country scenes mainly come from the imaginations under the KMT reigns region, especially the war conditions besides that tough life level and politic and democracy deterioration.Textures drawn from both the newspaper<JinSui Daily> and CPC policies, always are brief and keen with profundity of meaning such as aphorism\folk song and libretto to explaining the contents of the pictures.Objectively as a propaganda medium mixed visual images with texture words, pictorial magazine with its wood engraving seems much more popularized than pure words. Though its publication period is short,it gave birth a primitive model of various themes pictorial magazine in PRC; so as the role they played in 3rd Revolutionary war, specifically a mixture of vague pronouncements under the CPC policy and optimistic calls to action as soon as possible, play a important role in throwing agrarian people into the agrarian reform and crushing into the battlefield, continued to the PRC construction and Reform until now.Finally the wood engravings in 3rd Revolutionary War in border regions of JinSui, can be seemed as a benefit experiment for encouraging agrarian community and get the positive effect in propaganda tragedy. It gives us a unique light on the relationship between fine art and politics announcement. It also throw light on the visual material which presents a vivid and intuitive impression to mobilize the agrarian people. As the pictures were popular in crowd, the revolutionary and reform ideology implanted. This article is just a begin to this topic.
