Translation Practice Report Of Gen Condition Contract

China has witnessed a growing connection with the outside world and more frequent economic and trade activities with other countries, thanks to the deepening of globalization, China’s entry into the WTO and its rapid economic development. With its rise in the global stage, China has helped and is helping building many engineering projects for the third world countries. Requirements for engineering contract translation are increasing not only in quantity but also in quality.Logical language organization, normative writing style and highly specialized expression are the typical characteristics of contract language. Increasing transnational contracts are requiring higher English proficiency and translation competence for translators to deal with complex content precisely and appropriately. This is a great challenge for translators.This thesis focuses on a foreign construction contract. Based on case studies, it analyses the vocabulary and sentence features and the process of dealing with different grammatical phenomena, and summarizes translation strategies for such contracts. To be specific, the translation of modal verbs, passive voice, attributive clauses and adverbial causes in engineering contract is dealt with.
