| Sabbatino de Ursis(1575-1620), an Italian Jesuit, who came to China in 1606.Working in China for many years, he studied the Chinese language and customs actively, and made friends with the Chinese scholar-officials and literati, so had a deep understanding of Chinese traditional culture. He wrote Chinese literary and scientific works, such as Tai Xi Shui Fa, Jian Ping Yi Shuo, Biao Du Shuo, Xiang Shu Lun, which promoted the spread of European science and technology in China, and enhanced communication between the Chinese and Western culture, so Sabbatino de Ursis had an important position in the history of the Chinese-Western cultural exchanges.For the further study of Sabbatino de Ursis, this article based on the implementation of“science missionâ€strategy as the main line. the first chapter mainly introduces his life and experience in China, including his learning situation in the Jesus’ school before coming to China, studied the Chinese language with Mathieu Ricci after came to China, actively adopted scientific mission way to join editing the Chinese lunar calendar and dedicated himself to science practice, made friends before “Nanjing Religious Cases†broke out, and were driven out to Macao sufferings after it. The second chapter investigates his works edition circulation, applying of Tai Xi Shui Fa, analyses thought of “Si Xing Lun†that reflects in this paper, and clarify Tai Xi Shui Fa was Sabbatino de Ursis’ representative work that inaugurated the spread of scientific mission. The third chapter mainly study Jian Ping Yi Shuo, Biao Du Shuo, introduce them edition, content, influence, take comparative analysis the relationship of them, explore them thought of “Di Yuan Shuo†that discussed to further explain scientific mission progression of his promotion. The fourth chapter elaborates a theoretical monograph of scientific mission, which is Xiang Shu Lun including means of image-number and a relation between image-number and Yi, analyzes and evaluates influence of Xiang Shu Lun on designing of Chinese astronomy, concept of soul and images development. This three chapters are from the perspective of the culture history, scientifc and religious history to discuss the essential meanings of his mission and writings in Chinese. |
