Everyday Enlightenment: The Twelve Gateways to Personal Growth, written by Dan Millman, who is the top American master of body, mind and soul, the gymnastics coach of Stanford University, and the professor of the best Americ an arts and science college, Oberlin College, is a novel inspiring youngsters to strive for success. Just like his other books, Way of the Peaceful Warrior, Body Mind Mastery, and The Laws of Spirit: A tale of transformation, this book also focuses on the cultivation of body, mind and soul to help people discover their own worth and live a happy, meaningful life. The report is divided into three parts. The first part is task description, introducing the book Everyday Enlightenment, its author Dan Millman and significance of translation. The second part is process description, illustrating the preparation, process and proofreading of the translation. It is further divided into plan-making, selection of parallel texts, selection of translation strategies and quality control of the translation. The third part is case study, focusing mainly on the problems encountered by me during the translating process and the specific ways I adopt to solve these problems under the guidance of communicative translation theory. Trough this translation, I hope I can enhance my translation skills and competence, as well as enlighten more and more people especially those lost youngsters who are dying to discover their value and to embark on the road to spiritual and intellectual maturity.
