Transitional Space Of Gabriele Schwab’s Theory

The transitional space which is developed by Gabriele Schwab is the basic notion of her conception about Poetics of Space Contact. This notion has decided the Development Direction of her Literary Theory. While the earliest threat to symbiosis is generated by the mother’s absence, the infant learns to create the transitional objects with him or her imaginary in order to be able to endure this anxiety. The transitional objects develops into a general space of literature and art. The transitional space has the same characteristics as the transitional object,such as the importance of the imaginary and the suspension of boundaries. Transitional text is the cultural descendants of so-called transitional objects, they may different in specific contents,however they all work against the Cartesian subjectivity and focus on indeterminacy,openness, and flexibility of boundaries through stimulating the primary process and secondary process. From a historical perspective, the change of subjectivity in the transitional space is related to a more general historical change of a new episteme.Also, it is a transcendence of the division of subjectivity.
