O ’Neill’s works with rich autobiography color, especially in the late work, from his own family, depicts the ethics of individuals, families and society, with obvious ethical characteristics. These features reflect the writer’s own experience, of philosophy, aesthetics, and the social environment and other factors. So no matter from the writer’s own experience to explore, or from the perspective of the ethical literary criticism, commonly reveal the late O ’Neill plays,focusing on the characteristics of family and social ethics.Thesis consists of introduction, main body and conclusion of three parts. The introduction part combs O’Neill works of different period, the research status at home and abroad,at the same time,in this paper, the writers and their works, as well as research methods, purpose and innovation. Main body is composed of three chapters: the main body is divided into three parts, the first part from the writer based on family ethics, ethics, ethical dilemmas, paradox, discusses O ’Neill late drama ethical characteristics. The second part through the writers own factors and accepted by the philosophy thought, creation trend, in-depth analysis, such as the United States ethical environment to further explore writer ethics thought the causes of the formation of character. The third part from the rationality, the recovery of human nature, moral, ethical, reconciliation, and the culture of Chinese and western thought, analysis O’Neill late drama ethics construction, explore advanced drama of the mess, seek personal dissolve the direction in the family and the social contradictions to strive to make the family and social relationships, people return to normal ethics. His late works reveal a tragedy ethical qualities, explore the desire of individual, social existence significance, so as to reveal the writer’s social responsibility, pointing direction of the capitalism under the impact of moral, ethical dilemmas in the United States, widespread spiritual crisis.
