| In China, advertising companies are expanding with the furniture industry’s rapid development in recent years. Many advertising companies focusing on furniture photography now have the urgent need to learn about differences between Chinese and western styles of furniture photography. They also aim to exchange ideas with famous foreign photographers and combine advantages of Chinese and western furniture photo styles so as to compete with international advertising companies. To satisfy this kind of need, Chinese advertising companies need interpreters to work for them. The author was the interpreter of a relatively big advertising company for ten days in its western style furniture photography training session.Business interpreters should expect to meet various complicated circumstances. They should try their best to figure out the coping tactics for resolving difficulties they encounter and facilitate the business communication. In this report, based on the business liaison interpreting and conference interpreting conducted by the author for the WED, the author gives a brief description of the interpretation task, interpretation process, and explores her performance of on-site business interpretation by case analysis. Finally, the author concludes that three kinds of typical mistakes lie in her work, namely, failure in information delivery, failure in source language comprehension and failure in background knowledge preparation. As for these three mistakes, the author puts forward the corresponding countermeasures. The author delivered this report aiming at assessing a pragmatic and effective performance, and making pertinent suggestions for other interpreters. |
