Matthew To Acts:Swatow Dialect was written in the Roman capitals by a foreign preacher in 1892.It mainly reflects the phonetic of Shantou dialect at that time.This paper intends to study the phonetic system and the classification of words in Matthew To Acts in a systematic way.In order to reflect the developments and changes of Shantou dialect,it will be compared diachronicly with A Pronouncing and Defining Dictionary of the Swatow Dialect(1883),and also in comparison with modern Chao Shan dialect,which is the representative of dialects,so as to analyze its internal consistency and difference in Mattew To Acts:Swatow Dialect while compared with some other dialects,such as,Shantou,Chaozhou,Chanyang,Chenghai,Haifeng,Jieyang.
