Little poetry is an important style of new poetry, and with its unique stylistic features and stylistic values, it has its unique aesthetic features. Little poetry was born in the 1920s and it’s the outcome of the evolution the new poetry and the combination of the short verse in ancient China and that in foreign counties. Little poetry exists during the century development of new poetry, and has three distinctive climaxes of 1920s,1980s and 2010s. Especially it draws much attention of the poets in the Southeast Asia and Taiwan. "The little poetry mill" of the Chinese poets in Bangkok, Thailand is very successful. The stylist functions of little poetry are closely related to its ecology. The rush of modern people’s life is a very important reason of its attraction. Chinese poets overseas are keen on writing little poetry also because their relatively weak Chinese language level and poetic mastery. But for long, little poetry hasn’t drawn enough attention of the theoretical cycle of new poetry, and there was only very little study of the little poetry in the 1920s, but its evolvement after that time was seldom researched. Only by reappearing the complete picture of little poetry’s evolvement, studying the factors of the development of little poetry in different periods, representing its unique stylistic charm, and analyzing its different stylistic features in different periods, can we establish the role of little poetry in the century development of new poetry and help this almost stereotyped type of poetry serve for the stylist construction of new poetry nowadays. Because little poetry is short, overly stresses philosophy and has its stylist limitation, so we need to objectively assess this poetry style’s role in the construction of new poetry nowadays and in future. To revive the poetry is not rely on one single form of poetry. We value the creation of little poetry today, and we must value its ecological construction, increase the difficulty, and emphasize the consciousness of the best when we create it. As to the study of little poetry, we should pay more attention to the theoretical construction as well as the study of its history.
