| "knight-errant" enjoy a history of thousands of years in China. From the stereotype of rangers in Pre-Qin days to martial arts film nowadays, "knight-errant" has always been a figure the Chinese nation is familiar with, martial arts film is also the movie genre that is loved by masses in China and other Chinese people all over the world, and the discussion about martial arts film has always been paid attention by the academia. This article makes a study of martial arts world as a whole, By investigating the evolution history of the imagination of martial arts, this article treats the process of how martial arts film becomes the national imagined communities, based on the written history of the stereotype, popular literature readings and general entertaining movies. Besides the carding of the historical process according to the time, the focus of this article is the possibility of the building of national imagined communities in martial arts films. During the discussion, the relation between martial arts film imagination and national imagination is analyzed in order to discover how martial arts film becomes the national imagined communities.This article studies martial arts film from the vision of "National Imagined Communities ", which is brought up by Anderson, to figure out the relation between martial arts film and national imagination, and explicate the those representations of national imagination in martial arts films. Based on the analyze the following three aspects:national characteristic space, ranger image and national imagery, this article discusses how the national imagination is built, and then explain the positive significance the martial arts film have on the building of national imagined communities. To sum up, this article is not a repeated discussion about "knight-errant", but an investigation starting with the imagination of "knight-errant", discusses the course how the"knight-errant" become the imagined communities in the written history. Therefore, this article applies the method of text analyzing to investigate the content of "knight-errant" imagination and how the "knight-erranf’imagination built national imagined communities. |
