A Multi-Angle Study On The Semanteme Of The Compound Tendency Verb "Chu Lai" ("出来")

Tendency verb is a kind of special verbs which means a action tendency. Among them, words "qi"("起"), "kai" ("开"),"chu" ("出"), "hui" ("回") and"guo" ("过") combine with tendency verb "lai" ("来") and"qu" ("去"), then they become compound tendency verbs. These words have flexible form, rich significance, complex usage and widely used, and have been a hot and hard subject in Chinese language study. Current researches are very dispersed, which mainly focus on several aspects like some highly weaken compound tendency verbs and concept of tendency verb. They seldom pay attention to semantics and make an exhaustive study on one word. This paper has chosen popular and complex composite trend verb "CHU LAI" ("出来") as the research object, from three parts like its grammaticalization process, influential factors and semantic features in Cognitive Linguistics to study the evolution process of the semantic, characteristics and relationship between its meanings.In the first part, we made a brief introduction of the research significance, review and study theory. We introduced composite semantics and the research status of tendency verb "CHU LAI" ("出来") and summarized of predecessors’researches as necessary support.The second part is about the grammaticalization process of "CHU LAI"("出来"). "CHU LAI" ("出来") is a word with one meaning at first. But now, it has real meaning, trends meaning, results meaning and metaphor meaning. The develop process has semantic generalization and meaning weaken. This part form history view, many important old books and examples will be analyzed. The dominant period of dynamic meaning, the dominant period of result meaning and the balance period of all the meanings are three important periods, we can find the grammaticalization characters from them.The third is analyzing influence factors for "CHU LAI" ("出来"). When using this word, many factors affect its meaning’s choice. "CHU LAI" ("出来") can be different elements in the sentence. If it is predicate, the meaning it dynamic meaning. If it is complement, the meaning is weaken and has no action, it will be a trend from the inside to the outside or a result form nonexistence to pass into existence. The object also has influence on its meaning. Using object or not, which position to put and the character of object are restricting the meanings. At last, the predicate verb will be divided into three kinds, such as automatic shifting verb, passive shifting verb and no shifting verb.The forth part will use the Cognitive Linguistics, and studies five part:the cognitive relationship between meanings, the schemas, the conceptual metaphor, the subjectivity and reference highlights of "CHU LAI"("出来"). Using Cognitive Linguistics and schemas, the motor process is more lively, concretely and easily understood.The last part is summarizing the framework and result, which is summarizing all the paper.
