| As the most important linguistic elements, appellation plays a key role in normal communication. As a social phenomenon, appellation is closely related to social development and cultural reform. With the rapid development of cross-culture, the study of how to use appellation correctly in different languages is badly needed. In recent years, the study of appellation becomes a significant research subject of branches of linguistics, like linguistics, pragmatic and cultural linguistics. Above all, appellation is of great significance in cross-cultural communication because it is essential to the success of cross-cultural communication. In this context, the writer compared and analyzed the appellations of Russian and Korean.The relationship between Russia and Korea is complicated. After Cold War and Disintegration of the Soviet Union, the cooperation relationship between these two countries became stable. Both of these two countries have distinct culture backgrounds which were affected by western countries in the aspects of social development, cultural reform, psychological change and so on. Besides, Korean culture recently has been affected greatly by western culture and its traditional national culture showed serious western tendency. For example, Mr. is translated as (?) in Korean. These effects are reflected in languages, especially in the use of appellation. So the comparative study of the appellations of these two languages is of great importance.The purpose of this paper is to offer references to cross-cultural communications through comparative analysis and synchronic comparison. The author agrees with the viewpoint of Mr. Yulong XU, that is all kinds of human natural languages are the instruments of expressing and changing minds and the symbol system of combination of transliteration. So different languages can be compared, which offers the theoretical basis of this paper.This paper includes three parts. The first part is introduction elaborating the research purpose, meanings, research contents and methods, research overview, and this paper’s innovation and difficult points.The second part is the text. This paper comparatively analyzed the form and the rules of kinship appellations and social appellation use in Russian and Korean. It pointed out the similarities and differences of the appellations of these two languages and analyzed the reasons from different aspects including social development, culture and psychological elements.The third part is conclusion elaborating the argument.The language materials used in this paper are dialogues from daily communication, novels and films. |
