The culture of each ethnic group is continuously affected by the influence of other ethnic groups through its development.Under such mutual influence, the culture of each ethnic group continuously develops and innovates.The translation of literary works, which through the conversion of language, is one means of communication between the thoughts and culture of two ethnic groups.According to the Thai royal historical records, as early as the Rama V period (1868-1910), the Chinese classic "Journey to the West" was translated into Thai.As the "Journey to the West" contains the three main schools of Chinese religious thought, including Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism, reading it is to understand Chinese religious culture.Therefore, the translationof the "Journey to the West" is not only the simple conversion of language, which is the translation of Buddhist vocabulary prominent spread of Chinese culture.In this paper, a search and organization will be undertaken of the Buddhist terms in the original text of "Journey to the West" and the (?)(sai33?iu215) version of the Thai translation for the purpose of analysis. The paper is divided into third chapters.The first chapter contains the introduction, and mainly describes the choice of subject, the meaning and purpose, and the methodology and theoretical background of this paper.In addition, it describes the spread and impact of "Journey to the West" in Thailand and looks at studies about the Thai translation of the "Journey to the West".The second chapter will compare and analyze the structure of lexical forms in the Buddhist vocabularies of the original and the Thai translation of the" Journey to the West "; three kinds of word formation will be undertaken, including Sanskrit transliteration, Chinese-Sanskrit combination of words,and Buddhist transliterated words.Due to the different method of transplant of Buddhist vocabulary, the forms of both have differences from each other. And analyzes the differences in the translation of the Buddhist vocabulary in the original "Journey to the West" and its Thai translation.First, it will study the parts of the Thai translation that contain Chinese elements in word formation; then, it will analyze the exceptional translation strategies and methods used in the translation of Buddhist vocabulary in the Thai translation of the" Journey to the West".The third chapter is the conclusion, and contains a summary of this paper.In conclusion, this paper collects, analyzes and examines the Buddhist vocabulary in the original of the "Journey to the West" and the Thai translation and analyzes it in terms of the semantics and word formation. It also systematically analyzes the differences in translation, discussesthe translation method, translation strategies, and the impact of culture on translation. It is hoped that this study would initiate and provide a reference for future studies of Thai translations of Chinese literary works.
