Beethoven (1770-1872), along with Mozart (1756-1791) and Haydn (1732-1809), is referred to as one of the three virtuosos of the Classical Era. Beethoven acted as a bridg e between the Classical Era and the Romantic Era by maintaining elements of the Classic al style while blending them with stylistic elements of the Romantic Period. He was a co mprehensive musician who, through his incredible perseverance, was able to overcome his unfortunate circumstances and life’s adversities to create beautiful and vivid music.Beethoven’s musical career can be divided into three periods; he composed his most f amous Piano Concerto No.5, the Emperor Concerto, during the 2nd period. Additionally, B eethoven’s Emperor Concerto fully demonstrates his freedom of musicality and his creativit y through the piece’s extravagance and completeness.Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.5, the Emperor Concerto was the turning point in m usic history.
