It is acknowledged that writing is the core of Chinese traditionalpainting.But in fact,the role of writing in ancient painting has beencontinuously developed.“The method of bone pen”,put forward by XieHe in Nan Qi,paid special attention to the usage of linetheoretically,which influence the later deeply.“The consubstantialityof painting and calligraphy”,put forward firstly by Zhang Yanyuan in“The Famous Painting of Past Dynasties”,has great significance butlittle impact.Zhao Menfu in Yuan Dynasty,advocated the involvingcalligraphy in painting,which eventually paved the way of theindependence of writing in Ming and Qing Dynasty. Mr Zhao wrote onone of his paintings,“Stone as a malapropism wood as Zhou,Writtenbamboo also eight method shall be submitted.If someone could also,notice the common of calligraphy and painting”.I,personally,believedthat the line in calligraphy and Chinese painting has been connectedand influence with each other.The writing has always been there from unconscious line to conscious line.
