A Report On The Translation Of Chinese And English Business Contracts

This thesis is a translation report, the original materials---business contracts of which are received from XX translation company (The translation of business contracts has its own specialty. It should keep confidential some information as company’s name, person’s name and other secret information specified by the customers. So in this thesis, there will be some marks as XX, AAA instead of the confidential information...) where the author works as a part-time translator during the study in Tianjin Normal University. The materials include Chinese and English versions. This report, based on the Skopos theory, will make a systematical analysis and summary of the business contracts and provide some practical translation strategies and skills.This thesis firstly makes a brief introduction to the translation project, including the source of the raw materials, the goal and the overall framework of the project; then it introduces the theoretical basis---Skopos theory, the characteristics of the original texts in language style, clauses and the whole discourse; and then the author arranges the translation process in a simple way and makes an analysis of the original materials. The next part is about case analysis, in which the author, referring to the finished translation, analyzes the focuses, difficulties in translation process and summarizes the corresponding solutions and translation strategies. At last, the author reviews the whole translation process, points out the deficiencies in the process and thereof draws a lesson.
