This article is aimed to research the tile‐ends discovered in the Northeastern China by the means of typology. Based on the information synthesis of the published data, the article presents the establishment of tile‐ends’ preliminary time division and chronological sequence. Meanwhile, the article presents the further step on the exploration of tile‐ends’ spatial distribution features according to the statistical analysis of topological variations in different areas. Finally, this article provides approach to the tile‐ends production and connecting technique on account of attentive observation and measurement of part of tile‐ends examples and the artifact trails on them. The article is divided into seven parts as follows:The first part is designed to demonstrate the research target and briefly review the previous relevant research. It points the shortcomings and difficult points as well as the research methods and purpose of this article. The second part is designed to gives a background introduction to the geological setting and remains distribution of the study area. The northeastern China where tile‐ends are unearthed could be categorized as four major regions. The Western Liao River region, the Neijiang River region, the second reach of the Songhua River region, and the Mudan River region. The articles will present the tile‐ends discoveries and their conditions when they were unearthed based on the regional sequence above. The third part is designed to present the categorization of these tile‐ends based on the topological analysis. The patterns of tile‐ends are classified as vegetation, animal, human‐face etc.The fourth part is designed to present the chronological division of tile‐ends by the use of topology. The tile‐ends discovered in the Northeastern China is basically divided into two typological sessions: the Liao Dynasty and the Jin Dynasty. Their respective features will be discussed. The fifth part is the synthetic analysis on the tile‐ends’ characteristics of different times based on the topology and chronological division. It is attempted to compare and analyze the differences in spatial distribution. The sixth part is designed to present the recovery of the tile‐ends molding production and connecting technique based on the observation of some tile‐ends remains. The seventh part is the conclusions.
