The Ideology Criticism Theory Of Fromm

“Ideology” is always a difficult concept, the critique of German Ideology raisedthe research upsurge of ideology. Western Marxism thought that the ideology has amore powerful force. Erich Fromm is one of the representatives of the FrankfurtSchool, and the founder of the new doctrine of Freud. His ideology critical theory isfrom the perspective of social psychology, to explore the formation and operation ofideology on the basis of Marx’s theory. The most important theoretical contribution ofhis theory is the introduction of the social character and the social unconscious as themiddle part of the economic base and ideology, it also give us a new way of studyingideology, and also have an important enlightenment for our socialist construction.In this paper, the part of introduction includes a brief introduction of Fromm’slife, my reasons for choosing this topic, research status and my research ideas. Andmy specific discussion will be divided into four chapters, the first chapter describesthe origin of the theory of Fromm’s ideology critique, I will explain the etymology of“ideology”and the development of Marxist ideology critical theory. The secondchapter discusses the theory of Fromm’s ideology critique, the main contents includehow the ideology constructed through social character and social unconscious. Thethird chapter explains what the goal of Fromm’s theory, and how to achieve this goal.The final chapter is to evaluate the Fromm’s ideology critical theory, mainly todiscover its enlightenment for China’s socialist construction, In order to better realizethe value of my discussion.
