Urbanization is a process of changing traditional rural economic mode dominated by the traditional agriculture economy to industrial, service industry and other economic mode. Urbanization is an inevitable result of industrialization, and is the only way to develop China economy. However, the traditional urbanization process has brought a series of problems to urban residents, and lead to more differences between urban and rural areas. Under the guidance of scientific outlook on development, new type of urbanization arises at the historic moment which is based on the core idea of people-oriented and the means of overall consideration. Adhering to the people-oriented concept, new urbanization process starts from the needs of the people and the actual situation, and plans as a whole the relationship between the parties, and try to improve the people’s satisfaction with urbanization.The purpose of this study is to explore the happiness changes of urban and rural residents in the process of urbanization. This study is based on the Chinese residents subjective happiness scale abridged edition written by Xing Zhanjun and on questionnaire of new urbanization, and the multiple urban and rural residents have been studied in Henan province.1000questionnaires were studied out and898effective copies recycled.According to the independent sample T-test, the overall happiness difference in different genders is not clear t(898)=0.11, p>0.05, but there are significant differences between men and women in the dimensions of contented and rich experience, social confidence and physical health experience. At the same time, sex has regulating effects between the residents’ happiness and income satisfaction, and the same between the residents’ satisfaction and the residents’ happiness. There is no significant difference on the overall happiness of urban and rural residents t(898)=0.79,p>0.05, but there are clear differences on the following five aspects:The contented and rich experience, the social confidence experience, and the growing and progress experience, the self value experience and the physical health experience. At the same time, the household registration has regulating effects between the residents’ satisfaction and happiness. From2010to2014, the happiness of residents has improved clearly. From what has been discussed above, the conclusion will be obtained as follows: Sex, education and household registration and many other factors affect the residents’ happiness. Urban and rural residents have clear difference on the following four aspects: The contented and rich experience, the social confidence experience, the self value experience and the physical health experience, and the same as the residential, income, medical, environmental satisfaction and the happiness. From2012to2014, the happiness level of residents has improved largely especially on the income, medical, environmental satisfaction.
