Temperature is one of the most common phenomena in nature, is commonexperience of human, and belongs to the earliest cognitive domain of human. TheRussian and Chinese temperature concept words have large group and richconnotations and carry certain national cultural information; there is similarmetaphorical mapping in Russian and Chinese temperature adjectives. Besides, dueto different living habits and ways of thinking, Russian and Chinese temperatureadjectives are of different associative meanings. Therefore, the comparative researchon Russian and Chinese temperature adjectives has theoretical and practicalsignificance.The paper mainly takes the studies of Russian and Chinese temperatureadjectives of temperature concept signed in the daily life as the research object andcarries out comparative research on the metaphor phenomenon of Russian andChinese temperature adjectives from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. Basedon interpretation of the meanings of горячий, жаркий/热, тёплый/温, холодный/冷,and прохладный/凉in the reference books and corpus, the paper compares andanalyzes the metaphor mapping of above temperature adjectives in social life domain,psychological domain, physiological domain, deepens people’s understanding ofmetaphor, metaphor generality and individuality of Russian and Chinese temperatureadjectives and tries to reveal the relations between the temperature adjectives andnational culture from the perspective of linguistic culturology.At first the paper introduces conceptual metaphor theory through the theory ofmetaphor cognitive researches, explains the characteristics of conceptual metaphortheory, and analyzes the mapping characteristics of synaesthetic metaphor byapplying the theory. Then analyzes metaphor cognition of the meanings of Russianand Chinese warm and cold domains temperature adjectives, concludes metaphormapping modes, and summarizes their metaphor commonness and individuality. At last, is the conclusion part of the paper.
