The Compilation Of Chinese Parenting Style Scale And Its Reliability And Validity Analysis

Objective: Through the investigation and study to make sure that the parentingevaluative dimensions include the China’s national and under its culturalbackground,compiled a set of assessment scales which are suitable for developing thedomestic education.Studying the characteristics of parenting style and discussing howthe variables of demology influences on it.Methods: Strictly according to the compilation program of the psychological scale. Onthe basis of literature review and according to the theory of idea combining150collegestudents and experts,formed the initial scale of parenting style. Then give a scale surveyof390college students,applying the exploratory factor analysis to forward the formalscale and using confirmatory factor analysis to check the model’s structure.In theend,collected the1458formal scales. Used various of testings of validity and reliabilityto confirm it,and survey the characteristics of Chinese parenting style.Results:1. The KMO of exploratory factor analysis was0.931,In the result of confirmatoryfactor analysis，The index of χ2/df.，RMSE NFI, NNFI, IFI, CFI, GFI, AGFI were3.605,0.039,0.835,0.882,0.806,0.805,0.806,0.805.2. Reliability: The ranges of the Cronbach’s coefficients are from0.717to0.893; theranges of split-half reliability coefficients are from0.691to0.875; the test–retestreliability coefficients are from0.725-0.871 3. Validity: Correlation coefficients among scale and dimensions ranged from0.770-0.894; and ranged from0.457-0.755among dimensions.Compared with criterionscale,Correlation coefficients between democracy&care factor and affection一wormedis0.675;Correlation coefficients between emotional connection factor and affection一wormed is0.722;Correlation coefficients between authoritarian&rough factor andauthoritarian is0.806;Correlation coefficients between discipline&guidance factorand trust-encouragement is0.599;Correlation coefficients between tolerant&understanding factor and trust-encouragement is0.649.Two scales’ Correlationcoefficient is0.830.Conclusion:1. The parenting style is alternating transformation behavior and style which is affectedby many factors. Parenting style is structured by many factors-democracy&care,emotional connection,authoritarian&rough, discipline&guidance and tolerant&understanding, the scale’s model is well structured.2. Refering the theoretical supposition about the construction of parenting style,formedthe parenting style scale.Then use the scale survey with1458college and middle schoolstudents, The results show that the Cronbach’s coefficients,split-half reliabilitycoefficients,test–retest reliability coefficients,construct validity and criterion validity ofthe scale is good.Therefore,Chinese parenting style scale is appropriate as evaluationways of parenting style evaluation tool.3. The highest score of parenting style is emotional connection,followed by discipline&guidance,tolerant&understanding,democracy&care,the lowest is authoritarian&rough.4. The score of parenting scale differ greatly from different gender of children,place ofresidence, family type and parents’occupation and education.
