This thesis, with Chinese Mandarin as the research object, aims at analyzing the contact between tongue and hard palate during production on Chinese Mandarin of Consonants by means of Electropalatograph (EPG) from the dynamic perspective and static perspective, elaborating contact characteristics. The conduction of the experiment leads to the following conclusion:Plosive has a lower place of articulation and higher tongue position than fricative of the same part. The degree of resistance and tongue position of Affricate is more powerful than fricative. The plosive part in affricate affects its fricative, the influence degree of supradental is stronger than blade-palatal. The aspiration has an influence on articulation place, unaspiration consonants’lingual position is higher than aspiration’s, laterals concentrate their tongue-palate contacts on alveolar, the airflow passes from the narrow gap of both side of tongue; The tongue-palate contact of nasal mainly in alveolar..The pronouncing of supradental、blade-palatal and anterior have the characteristics of high in the both ends and low in the intermediate, which is called ’saddle’, but the tongue body characteristics of blade-alveolar is not obvious. The pronunciation of four types of fricatives are different form affricate’s, the tongue position of fricatives is lower than affricate’s, and this is consistent with traditional phonetics research. The aspiration characteristics of supradental、blade-palatal and anterior have an influence on the place of articulation, the aspiration’s lingual position is more lower. Vowel does not affect the main speech organs’action of supradental, but it affects the height of lingual surface, the lingual surface becomes falling when followed by a low vowel. This research uses physical instrument dose more precise study on the basis of traditional phonetics and modern phonetics. What’s more, the experimental results provide a reference for the further research on the articulating mechanism of Chinese Mandarin.
