No matter Russian,English and Chinese puns form two or more than two layersof meaning by the use of polysemantic or homophonic words. The translation of punsfrom Russian to Chinese is tricky. There is a big difference in language structure,language background, way of thinking and expression method between them,becauseRussian and Chinese belong to two entirely different families of languages. As well asthe characteristic of pun is “double meanings”,Russian puns,what can be translatedinto corresponding Chinese puns,are very rare.However, translators still make everyattempt to translate because “what is untranslatable really worth to translate”. Owingto the level of translators and translation method,how to evaluate the quality of atranslation of puns from Russian to Chinese becomes a valuable problem, how toimprove the level of translation as well.In this paper lead the quantitative model of pragmatic translation ofpuns(English-Chinese translation) into Russian-Chinese translation research,to fill thedomestic blank in this field.We discuss similarities and differences betweenRussian,English and Chinese puns from the language structure and pragmatics angles,attest this model also suitable for use in Russian-Chinese translation of puns to acertain extent. At the same time, the author believes that the model has someshortcomings in the pragmatic meaning judgment, and in this paper briefly mention alittle improvement suggestion.Under the dynamic guidance of the quantitative model,we could get translationresults in higher quality.This is very positive on translation practice, conducive toimprove the translation competence of the translator.
