On The Translation Of Martial Arts Fiction From The Perspective Of Translator’s Subjectivity

In translation practice, the translator serves as the subject and the core. Yet, traditional studies have put the translator in a marginal place. The’cultural turn’ emerged in the1970s combined translation with cultural studies, and provided new perspectives for the study of translator’s subjectivity. This-thesis aims to analyze the English version of The Book and the Sword from the perspective of translator’s subjectivity and analyze how the translator’s cultural stance and language competence and the readers’ receptivity impact the translator’s translation methods.The thesis consists of five chapters:Chapter1introduces the reason for selecting this topic and the academic value of this thesis; Chapter2discusses what is subject and subjectivity, and related studies on it; Chapter3introduces the author and the translator of the novel and its significance; Chapter4categorizes and analyzes the translation to discuss how translator’s subjectivity impact translation methods and the translation of cultural factors; Chapter5gives the conclusion and raises some suggestions for future translation of martial arts fiction.
