The paper-cut in China is rooted in the diligent work of Chinese. It has not beeninterrupted since emerged. Paper-cut is one of the art forms loved by the mass. What thetraditional paper-cut presents is not the objective things, but the images deep in the artists’hearts. It focuses on the subjective feelings and emotions of the folk artists, and embodyingthe aesthetic sense and spirit. In this way, it has its own unique aesthetic characteristics. Thepaper-cut of Wuji was ignored in1990s. Until nowadays, we start to know and exhume thenative culture. As a result, the folk paper-cut of Wuji come into sight. In the last severaldecades, we have been innovating the paper-cut based on inheritance, and we make greatachievements. By our innovation, there are more contents and type of the paper-cut. And thusit can satisfy more people’s psychological need. However, from the point of the noumenon ofthe folk art, I suppose that some of the new paper-cut can be the key point to develop, butsome deviates aside. This essay discusses the art traits of the paper-cut of Wuji includinganalyzing and evaluating.The introduction is about the research background, significance, intention, currentconditions and means. This chapter introduces the structure and means of this essay.The first chapter introduces the geographical culture of Wuji, and it intends to makepeople get to know the circumstance of the creation of the paper-cut, as well as itsdevelopment and current situation.The second and third chapters introduce the esthetic value and philosophy background ofWuji’s paper-cut. The the creation and innovation originate in the everyday seasons,proprieties and legends. And the chapters summarize the many ways of the creation andvarious contents. As the picture language, the paper-cut of Wuji is different from the otherarts in mould and features. After the introduction, the essay supposes how to inherit anddevelop the paper-cut. Many kinds of moulds, distinctive colors and the professional piece ofwork make people know more about the paper-cut and appreciate it. As an art circulating byword of mouth, the paper-cut is not only a kind of art image, but also the reflection of the folkculture and tradition. National uniqueness leads to the path of global acceptance. This essayexpresses my understanding and opinion on the paper-cut’s mainstream of the art’sdevelopment. It mainly researches on how to develop the paper-cut without being separatedfrom the ontology of the folk art. The fourth chapter studies the paper-cut’s influence on other arts. This extends the rangeof people’s understanding and appreciation of the paper-cut. By the research, the essay makessuggestions about how to develop the paper-cut of Wuji faster and better. I hope that moreand more people join in us to make contributions to the national culture.
