A Study On The Special Characters Of Chu Bamboo Slips

The so called "special characters" in philology are used to represent "special concept"." Special concept" is different from the "ordinary concept". The "ordinary concept" we commonly used always has strong generality, refer to an entire class of things with common characteristics. However, the "special concept" refers to a relatively narrow range of meaning. They are often used to represent a single thing or a small class of things. Characters which refer to this kind of concept, are what we call the "special characters"."Special characters" are exist more or less in every period of Chinese characters. As a special kind of characters, the meanings of them and their construction method all have very distinctive features."Special characters" are also largely reflects the ideology and language habits of a certain period of people. This paper takes the Chu bamboo slips as the research scope, collecting, sorting and research on "Special characters", try to do a relatively comprehensive definition of "Special characters", and attempt to put forward our own points of view of the collection and classification method of "Special characters". On this basis, we also try to make some simple explanations to some characters of Chu bamboo slips which with academic controversy from the point of view of "Special characters". In this paper, we have also carried on the simple introduction of Chu culture.We believe that what we do to sort out and research is helpful to the Chu characters research and the seeking of Chu culture.
