"Metaphor everywhere." Metaphor is an important means for people to understand the world. In Chinese, Meaning of many words are generated by way of metaphor. Originally, "Equal" and "Not equal" mainly used in the field of mathematics. However, we found that in the actual language use, the scope of "Equal" and "Not equal" have already been beyond mathematics field and their meanings changed. By analyzing the corpus, this paper explores and summarizes the metaphorical meanings for "Equal" and "Not equal" and analyzes the produced mechanism. By analyzing the corpus, we found that some metaphorical meanings have become an item of "Equal" and are listed in dictionaries. But some items have been not listed in dictionaries. So we compares "Equal" and "Not equal" with their synonyms respectively. And we compared "Equal" and "Not equal" in Chinese with the relative expressions in English. So, this paper is separated into five parts.First chapter is a brief introduction. Main contents are this papers research object, research purpose, significance and method and a summary of studies of home and abroad about metaphorical studies.Two chapter is semantics and usage analysis of "Equal" and "Not equal". By referring dictionaries, find out the basic meaning of "Equal" and "Not equal".Making a brief analysis and summary about the basic usage of "Equal" and "Not equal". By analyzing the corpus, we summed up metaphorical meaning of "Equal" and "Not equal". The research shows that "Equal" generated "Equivalent", "Is", "Mean". "Not equal" generated "Not mean", "Is not", "Not represent".Third chapter elaborated the basic type and mechanism of metaphor. Basic types of metaphor include spatial metaphor, structure metaphor as well as entity metaphor. The semantic conflict is the basic condition of metaphor. In order to solve this conflict, Metaphorical meaning is generated. The metaphorical meaning of "Equal" and "Not equal" also resolve semantic conflicts. So we use Semantic conflict theory to explain why "Equal" and "Not equal" generated metaphorical meaning.Four chapter explains the difference between "Equal", "Not equal" and their synonyms. These differences are reflected in the word similarity and meaning focus.In five chapter, compared "Equal" and "Not equal" in Chinese with corresponding English expression. In Chinese, "Equal" and "Not equal" has generated metaphorical sense. Their corresponding English expression also generated metaphorical sense. This shows that human languages are interlinked.
