Research On The Folk Customs And Shapes Of Zhaoyuan Floury Flower Art

The floury flower which is widely spread in Huang river area and north coast of China is a kind of folk arts and crafts created by working people through the passing of immense periods of time. Floury flower is full of cultural content and acts as the folk culture carrier in various festivals. It also expresses the meaning of working people’s aesthetic psychology. Zhaoyuan locates at northwest of Jiaodong Peninsula in Shandong province. Because of its relatively closed culture, stable folk customs and single Inheritance, Zhaoyuan folk floury flower still keeps its original and simple style. Based on visiting local village and reference reviewing, here we studied the overall model of Zhaoyuan floury flower and analyzed the difference of floury flower from different areas in Zhaoyuan.There are four parts in this study. The first part “the survival background of Zhaoyuan floury flower” analyzed the overall situations of Zhaoyuan including geographical position, natural and human environment. The second part is “Zhaoyuan floury flower during folk custom etiquette”. In this part, we gave detailed description about the materials, tools, methods and applycations of Zhaoyuan floury flower in folk ceremony and activities. In the third part “The shape characteristics and differences of Zhaoyuan floury flower in differents villages”, we summarized the overall shape characteristics of Zhaoyuan floury flower. In addition, based on certain floury flowers such as “Shengchong” and “Tongpenbobo”, we also investigated and analyzed the differences of Zhaoyuan floury flower obtained from different area. In the last part of this thesis-“Inheritance and development of Zhaoyuan folk floury flower”, we studied the inheritance means and problems during development of Zhaoyuan floury flower and made some recommendations on these issues.
