In daily life, greeting is a verbal communication behavior essential, it occurs in the beginning of the session, although with less rational meaning, but the implication of emotion is very abundant, it determines and maintains the social relations. Greeting is an indispensable part in the study of language, and it is a reduction of language form. For the second language teaching, the primary purpose is to develop learners’ ability of using the target language for communication, which determined the main purpose of this study,namely how to make students correctly use proper Chinese greetings to communicate. First,this article explores the characteristics of Chinese greetings, prone to errors in students learning and using. Followed by statistical analysis of greetings in the foreign language textbook "Communicate in Chinese", from the two aspects of objective and subjective analysis the factors of students in learning and using Chinese greetings errors. This kind of pragmatic failure are caused by comprehensive effects, which include cultural differences,language teaching, communicative principles, learning strategies and social environment and the Chinese-English translation. Finally, put forward how to effectively teach the language for Chinese teachers and how to learn more effectively for students.
