Doris Lessing is a famous British novelist and Nobel Prize winner, whose creation career spans two centuries. Many of her art works have the strongest practical critical spirits and widely attract people’s attention. Her novel Mara and Dann:An Adventure is easily mistook as an ordinary adventure record for its relaxed and humorous characteristics according to the title. However, this novel actually contains a lot of thinking of real problems and the novel itself has serious connotation and significance of warnings.Based on the text of Doris Lessing’s Mara and Dann:An Adventure, this paper mainly focuses on the dystopian perspective to interpret this novel. Most researchers consider that this work has mainly discussed the relationship between human and nature. However, from the view of dystopia, this work not only focuses on the relationship between human and nature, but also pays attention to people and race, the relationship between men and women. This paper analyses the dystopian vision of the future world after clear understanding of all kinds of relations of the novel. Combining with Mara’s cognition and resistance, this novel also makes further exploration about the criticism of realistic problems as well as the return cycle of human history. So the conclusion is that the author is not aimed at simply showing dystopian vision for the future of the world, but casts light on the reality mapping problems under the strategy of the disorder of space and time, expressing her criticism of the reasons of realistic problems and finding the way to the relative return out of the loop. This thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter discusses three opposite relationships of the Avery the dystopian world. In future, modern humans have to bear the harsh natural environment because of the destruction of nature by ancient people, but at the same time continue to do the same thing. People of different races are all suppressed by their own race and other races, continuously carrying on the struggle between different ethnic groups. The whole human society becomes a male dominant patriarchal society, which makes women be male’s subservient. The second chapter pays attention to Mara as an individual and her understanding of her situation and resistance. Mara as an individual has three identity; she is a person, a MoHongDi man and a woman. These three identities make Mara’s journey to the north suffer from great oppression coming from natural, race, and men. During the process, Mara acquires clear understanding of her position in front of nature, the race and the patriarchal society from her own angle, gradually becoming a north, an ethnic rebel and an new female.Chapter three centers on nature, race and gender, from which discuss Lessing’s realistic criticism and self-examination of the novel from the perspective of cycle regression. Such ideas and problems as anthropocentrism, technology philosophy and the antagonism between ethnic and male hegemony, which exist in the reality world, are all Lessing’s criticism and self-examination.The conclusion mainly discusses Lessing’s real purpose of the construction of anti-Utopia in her novel. She constructs a dystopia from the relationships between man and nature, individual and race and man and woman. She is not only aimed at showing her criticism of reality problem, but makes people alert to the real problems. What’s more, it is also to emphasize the importance of the return of Utopia, hoping people can continuously go to the North with hope.
