As an existing earliest written medical classics of China, Huangdi Neijing took Chinese ancient naive materialism philosophy as guidance, emphasized corresponding and close relationship between universal nature and human body, and conducted depth and detailed study on medical theories such as visceral & meridian system, etiology & syndrome, diagnosis & treatment rules, and health preservation & disease prevention, etc. from the angle of holistic view. The most ingenious thing was that it initially combined the musicology with traditional Chinese medicine and put forward the diagnosis & treatment method--“five-note therapy”, i.e. conducted treatment by selecting the tune according to the relationship between features of tunes of five notes(which is similar to Do Re Mi So La) and five internal organs(heart, liver, spleen, lungs and kidneys) & five elements(metal, wood, water, fire and earth). It can be said that the generation of this theory has laid solid foundation for the later construction of music therapy system with Chinese characteristics.Firstly, the paper discussed the specific embodiment of theoretical thoughts such as Yin-Yang(in Chinese philosophy, medicine, etc. yin and yang, the two opposing principles in nature, the former feminine and negative, the latter masculine and positive), the five elements and harmony between man and nature, etc. On this basis, conducted induction and reorganization on scattered records related to music in the book, then discussed the corresponding relationship among five notes, five internal organs and five emotions, as well as historical origins, treatment principle and practical application of the five-note therapy. By relevant study on “five notes” of Huangdi Neijing, we can found that the generation and application of five-note therapy are totally dependent upon the unique Chinese ancient philosophy. This study will lose the value of existence if it separates from this theoretical background. In addition, most people in the industry regard five-note therapy as one kind of psychotherapy, which is mainly applied to the patients with psychological/mental diseases or defects such as autism, mania and affective disorder, etc. However, they still has have reservations about its clinical effect on case of a physically strong patient running a high fever etc.caused by internal dysfunction of human body.
