| According to the Basic Requirements for English Education in Vocational and technical Colleges(2006), English teaching in Vocational and technical Colleges should highlight practicability and pertinency, and develop students’ competence of using language. As one of the most important language skills, writing is the important criterion for the students’ English level. However, there exist many errors in writings of the vocational-and-technical-college students, especially lexical errors. Therefore, it is very significant for the teachers of Vocational and technical Colleges to make clear classification of lexical errors, analyze the reasons and make some relevant proposal.Based on the Error Analysis, this study aims to classify the types of lexical errors, explore the reasons of lexical errors and make some relevant vocabulary learning and teaching suggestions through analysis on 95 pieces of writing of the vocational-and-technical-college students from Fujian Vocational College of Agriculture. The study instruments include writing test, questionnaires and interview.The result shows that there are many types of lexical errors in students’ writings, which are distortion, formal misselection, misformation, confusion of sense relations, collocational errors, confusion of part of speech and conjunction errors. The causes include inappropriate vocabulary learning strategies, negative transfer of Chinese, culture difference between Chinese and English, improper vocabulary teaching strategies. |
