A Comparative Study On The Virtue Ethics Of Pre-qin Confucianism And Ancient Greek

We live in the era of globalization, globalization and technological revolution make contemporary human survival circumstances and humanistic value great changes, meanwhile make our moral life faced with new challenges. In the modern life, as people desire for material excess, pay more attention to the practical benefits of self, pursuit for spiritual world and the moral belief more and more indifferently, to a certain extent, it exacerbated the crisis of modernity. To seek the solution we need to return to the source of virtue ethics, to find spiritual resources.Pre-Qin period and ancient Greece is the source of moral mind, and at the same time both have deep thinking of virtue ethics and similar inquiry. These thoughts, as the historical and traditional spirit resources, still have a profound impact to us in new era, and also have certain effect, which could provide experiences and references, to moral construction of modern society. Therefore, a comparison between Chinese and western moral virtue thought in ancient times has important theoretical significance and practical significance.Through the comparison research method, this paper will make a comparative study in Chinese and western virtue ethics thought. This paper is divided into four parts: In part one, analyze the background of how the theory of virtue ethics generated, compare and analysis the impact to the thought of virtue ethics from the horizontal point of view in pre-Qin period and ancient Greece under different economic, political, and cultural background; In part two, according to the historical development of virtue ethics thought, vertically lists the main virtue ethics thoughts of different representative characters from the pre-Qin Confucianism and ancient Greece; In part three, based on the analysis and summary of the first two parts, compares the basic content of virtue thought from pre-Qin Confucianism and the ancient Greek in different perspectives; In part four, through the comparative analysis of traditional Chinese and western virtue ethics value, combining the national conditions and moral construction of our present situation, provides more perfect solutions and ideas for the contemporary moral construction of our country.
