Abstract/Summary:
Someone once made such a metaphor: if Natsume Soseki is Lu Xun of Japan, then Mori Ogai is Yu Dafu. This analogy is reasonable, Yu Dafu and Mori Ogai are the leaders of romantics in their country and they all like writing themselves as the "prototype", we call them "self-prototype" creation. The paper will begin a comparative study on "self- prototype" creation between Yu Dafu and Mori Ogai, beneath the overall tone of Romanticism, so to hope to find out meaningful enlightenment to modern human.The text is divided into five parts, the introduction mainly introduces a systemic definition of "self- prototype" creation and the current situation of research on Yu Dafu and Mori Ogai’s study at home and abroad, also the significance and innovativeness of the study.The first chapter introduces the romanticism’s communication between China and Japan, Japan introduce the romanticism through the translation of Western literature and later the romanticism trended back to "Five- Four" new culture movement by Chinese overseas students studying in Japan. The "self-prototype " creation between Yu Dafu and Mori Ogai was born under this big background.The second chapter discusses similarities and differences of the "self-prototype " creation between Yu Dafu and Mori Ogai from the cultural, social-political and sexual-ethical level. They all tried to resist, also to surrender and confess, but the body of resist, the drgree of surrender and the object of confess are different in the same subjective perception.The third chapter tells the reason of differences between Yu Dafu and Mori Ogai in their "self-prototype" creation, which analyzed on the historical origin of romanticism. Chinese traditional Confucianism and Taoism made Yu Dafu’s "self-prototype" creation not only “lyrical” but also “ambitious”, they rise the expression to country and the nation’s height. The Japanese traditional culture is treated as "urban literature", the entertainment has surpassed the sociality so that after the extreme "Europeanization", attention to society exists in literature greatly reduced. Mori Ogai’s "self-prototype" creation is limited to this, putting eyes on personal love and family life, even with the criticism of society, the voice is weak.Finally, making a summary. On the one hand, the " self-prototype" creation is redemption and clarification to the individual soul, on the other hand,the author expresses their good wishes on "me" or "us" by exposing themselves using " self-prototype " creation. In the modern literary world, research on Yu Dafu and Mori Ogai is mostly focused on single paper, rarely study their "self-prototype " creation in such a romantic background.This paper mainly uses the method of parallel study to research Yu Dafu and Mori Ogai’s "self-prototype" creation combining several disciplines of literature, psychology, history and so on. Hopping to have a reference for the later researchers.
