The Reliability And Validity Of Projective Mapping As An Interpersonal Relationship Scale And Its Application

Interpersonal relationship is a kind of psychological distance and contacts among us,not equal to social relations.Each individual lives in a variety of realistic, specific interpersonal relationships.What is called "The goodness of life is the goodness of interpersonal relationship,the abundance of life is the abundance of interpersonal relationship”.Individuals live in a certain social and cultural environment,always have kinds of communications and contacts,thus forming different forms of interpersonal relationships.Harmonious and healthy relationships enable individuals and groups to communicate, exchange and cooperate,and make us feel pleasure and excited.Along with the rapid development of society,science and technology,as well as the changes of people’s pace and ways of life,the position of interpersonal relationship in real life is becoming more and more important.Now research mainly adopts sociomery method 、 reference measurement method and Interpersonal Relationship Integrative Diagnostic Scale,etc.Although these methods are classic instruments of interpersonal relations,they have own advantages, but the shortcoming should be paid attention,so it is necessary to develop more interpersonal measurement instruments.This study used Projective mapping as interpersonal relationship instrument、the self-made relationship rating scale、Moreno’s Sociomery Method and Big Five Personality to test the reliability and validity of Projective mapping with different ages and instructions,and explore the links among Projective mapping、Moreno’s Sociomery Method and Big Five Personality.Through the research and analysis of the data obtained,we get the following results:1. The test-retest correlation coefficient of Projective mapping is high,having good stability and consistency.Compared to the result of pupils in grade three,the result of third grade students in university with implicit instruction is better;2. The criterion validity coefficient of Projective mapping is high,the instrument is effective.The result of pupils in grade three with explicit instruction is better,but with implicit instruction,the result of third grade students in university is better.3. Most popularity coefficient among third grade students in university is higher than0.2,meaning the interpersonal relationship is in a good level.The mean distance of disc in Projective mapping and sociomery method are negatively correlated,and the correlation coefficient is high,also from the other side to show the effectiveness of Projective mapping as interpersonal relationship instrument4. We can use the mean distance of disc in Projective mapping to reflect the interpersonal relationship,namely the more distance is,the more estranged interpersonal relationship is;the less distance is,the more close interpersonal relationship is,also can reveal the relationship between interpersonal distance and personality types,namely the distance of disc and agreeableness,extraversion is significantly negatively correlated,the distance of disc can predict subjects’ personality types in a certain extent.
