Previous studies have definitely concluded that emotion has an important impact on human attention. As a special attention training methods, mindfulness meditation can produce a specific effect on not only attention but also emotion. Previous studies have proved that mindfulness meditation can improve three subsystems of attention: alerting,orienting and executive to improve attention-related behavioral responses. Meanwhile,mindfulness meditation has the effect on emotion regulation. It can reduce negative emotions and enhance positive emotions to maintain physical and mental health.Researches has predominantly examined the mechanism for mindfulness meditation on attention. However, little is known about the mechanisms through which mindfulness meditation might produce positive change in cognition and emotion. Current researches cannot explain how mindfulness meditation affects subsystems of attention under negative scenarios. Therefore, our study is to examine the impact of mindfulness meditation on subsystems of attention in negative emotion contexts.This study consists of three parts: First, the selection of experimental material. The purpose of this study was to pre-select appropriate music for formal experiment. Second,mindfulness meditation training. In order to make the subjects learn and practice mindfulness methods, 17 subjects were selected for a six-week mindfulness meditation training. Third, examining the impact of mindfulness meditation on subsystems of attention in negative emotion contexts. Subjects need to complete ANT before and after mindfulness meditation, both in neutral and negative circumstances. The results are as follows:1.Mindfulness meditation can reduce the individual’s sensitivity to negative emotion contexts.2. Negative emotion increases alerting level and mindfulness meditation increases executive level.3.The impact of mindfulness meditation on subsystems of attention may not be affected by the emotional situations, especially from the situations evoked by music.4.Mindfulness meditation can improve participants’ scores of mindful attention awareness; positive emotions are improved and negative emotions are reduced.
