Research On The Early Chinese Religious Films (1895-1949)

In this paper, the study of religion in stages in accordance with the historical development of tablets to historical data as the main object, extract key information, theoretical analysis and profiling on the basis of academic achievement and reference existing theoretical perspectives on, summarized the historical development of forms of religious films. Currently, the systematic study of the early religious pieces still in the blank stage, a small amount of the early writings of religious pieces slightly mentioned, but are not perfect. Thesis was mainly newspapers, magazines and other traditional paper media as the basis for the organization of content, combined with the specific historical circumstances and social popularity spread phenomenon; the contents of the film to explore the body and the audience’s viewing experience is also involved in the paper, combining the times corresponding historical excavations and aesthetic characteristics of image analysis and further study of early religious pieces, and ultimately trying to rigorous analysis of the orderly development context and social history of the religious significance of the early films of particularity.This paper examines the early Chinese religious piece points both broad and narrow, narrow religious piece refers to religion as the main performance of the object, to convey the spirit of religion in order to achieve the purpose of religious propaganda film; generalized religious pieces involved with religion and religious elements color film. In view of our earlier narrow slice of the few religious situation, the paper discusses the extension of the generalized moderate religious pieces, more integrated approach to demonstrate the intrinsic relationship between film and religion and the development of various factors affecting the religious pieces.
