Liang Lun And Guangdong Province’s Dance: Case Study Under The Horizon Of Regional Dance History

Liang Lun (1921-) is an important figure in the dance history of modern China. His great influence on Guangdong Province’s dance can be found in choreography (especially in dance drama), dance education, leading the Dancers’ Association and founding two dance study magazines. By investigating the life track of Liang Lun and the correlative historical circumstances, we try to epitomize and illustrate the crucial role Liang Lun had played in developing dance in Guangdong Province.Different historical materials are applied:oral history, literature, archives, images, videos, etc. As for methodology, the research method of case study and the notion of regional history from history study are introduced into this thesis. We try to highlight individual, interpersonal interaction and specific historical circumstances in study, and hopefully it could present another possibility for modern China’s dance history writing.
