The third section simply describes the basic content of the two books, which aims at illustrating its value.The third chapter is literature values of two books. This part is divided into four sections. The first section in this paper is about the two books’supplementary role to Ruan Yuan’s biographical information. Now, scholars research Ruan Yuan’s life by means of Ruan Yuan’s biography, chronicle and other materials, and two books adds Ruan Yuan life, and part of the accounts is more detailed than chronicle. The second section expounds Ruan Yuan’s stone materials. The Notes of Xiao Cang Lang described the process of Ruan Yuan researching stone around in Shandong, and it can provide background information for the research on the Notes of Shandong’s Stone Inscription. The third section is about modification for the Corpus of Yan Jing Shi. Many of Ruan Yuan’s poetry were created during travelling with his friends when he was education officials in the Shandong and Zhejiang province. Majority of poems were later collected in the Corpus of Yan Jing Shi. However, the poems were revised in two books on the basis of the Corpus of Yan Jing Shi, so that the two books differ from the latter. Comparison on derivatives poems before and after and Ruan Yuan’s division on poems in collecting poetry has very important significance on studying Ruan Yuan poetics idea. The fourth section describes modification for poems of teachers and friends. Ruan Yuan includes poetry draft of part of the teachers and friends in two books. Some of these scholars have poetry collection which handed down, while some are not. Therefore, this part of the collection of poems can correct most of poetry collection which handed down, and also can collect literary works which had not.The fourth chapter is academic value of two books. This part includes three sections. The first section is about expounding textual researches on objects in the two books. The two books are a sort of note book. We can see many textual researches. These textual researches can justify themselves, which shows Ruan Yuan’s high academic accomplishment. In the second section, the paper is devoted to the interpretation of the classic literature in two books. Ruan Yuan had new interpretation on classic literature in two books, and tended to form its own said. The third section describes comments about poems of teachers and friends in two books. There are many items involved Ruan Yuan’s comments in his feature stories text. This part of text shows his literature view. Meanwhile, it also largely reflects the literary world during the time, which has the very high academic value.The last part of the paper is the conclusion. The paper cites defects of the two books. At the same time, it points out virtues of the two books in spite of its flaws, and hope that the researchers pay high attention to it.
