A Study Of The Interpreting Principles And Strategies Of Press Conferences Interpreting Of NPC&CPPC Guided By The Interpretive Theory

In recent years, with the improvement of China’s international status, the significance of the press conference interpreting (PCI) of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) is more highlighted, and more and more people are paying attention to it. PCI as one form of conference interpreting has its own features. The Interpretive Theory has been the most integrated systematictheory on interpreting by now. DanicaSeleskovitch and Marianne Lederer, professors inESIT build it. Interpreting is supposed as a kind of communicative behavior in this theory. The core of it’s content is that interpreting is the procedure of understanding the sense and re-expressing. It aimed to deliever the sense. So, the Interpretive Theory will have an positive influence on this study.This thesis regard PCI of NPC and CPPCC sessions as the material of research, delivered by Premier Zhu Rongji during the NPC and CPPCC sessions from 1999-2002, the author analyze the principles and strategies of those PCI under the guidance of Interpretive Theory specifically. In the future, the author hope this thesis will give some references to the interpreting practice.
