Bian Zheng Kao also called Quan Shan Bian Zheng Kao, which had twelve volumes and was written by Zhang Yu in Ming dynasty. Under the influence of political border crises, Wang Yangming’s idealistic and pragmatism, Zhang Yu composed the Bian Zheng Kao in the twenty-seventh year of Jia Jing, which used military geographic atlas and historical materials from Shaan Xi legal deposit.The book was composed of military geographic atlas and textual research literals. The main contents are historical evolution, geographical borderland and military defense of four northwestern towns in Ming Dynasty. At the same time,the book included the historical activities of Mongolia, northwest minorities and the relationship between the Ming Dynasty and the surrounding tribes.In particular, atlas recorded distribution and activities of Mongolia. They provided reliable information for Ming Dynasty and reflected the idea of history for practical utility. The book was written by contemporaries that recorded the local events at that time, mostly based on the first-hand data at that time——File. As a result, Bian Zheng Kao was a synthesizer of border information about northwest towns in Ming Dynasty and it had high military value and historical values. The book no more than had important data of northwest frontier about Ming Dynasty for future generations, but also it was necessary historical materials for the study of the Ming Dynasty of Mongolia and northwest minority relationship.
