The education of Ci in Shanghai’s Colleges is a significant phenomenon in the period of the Republic of China, especially in the ninteen thirties. It develops with Ci and affects Ci.On the one hand, the teaching of Ci advocates the theoretical research because of the formation of modern Ci, as the criticism of Ci in Colleges has established.On the other hand, this kind of imparting promotes the Ci to change from tradition to modern when Ci becomes a subject with popular teaching and modern academic.The first chapter is about the setting of curriculum, textbooks and library resources for education about Ci in colleges of Shanghai.The common characteristics are that they focus on the History of Ci and the Anthology of Ci. This is not only owing to the classroom teaching, but also reflects the division of the theory and creation.The second chapter investigates the organization of the teaching of Ci in Colleges of Shanghai. In addition to the use of the west system,such as tutor, elective course and thesis,it inheritances the traditional teaching method of Ci,for example,reading and checking.Therefore, it shows a combination of tradition and modernity.The third chapter discusses the organizations associated to Ci in Shanghai’s Colleges. Guidance of teachers makes them become a special form of the teaching that applying what one has learned.In addition, the collection and publishment of magazines makes these activities from private to public.The last chapter considers Yusheng Long’s teaching achievements of Ci. One is studies about Ci’s theory in Jinan University and emphasize the contemporary of Ci, the other is a new song calls "Xi Ti Yue Ge" which is full of innovation consciousness thanks to support from professionals and students in College of Music.
