A Preliminary Study On The Conservation Of Existing Modern Industrial Heritagein Urban Zhengzhou

Throughout the history of Chinese industrial development in the 20 th century, Zhengzhou railway station has been playing the role of the national railway hub. The city became the country’s major industrial base and one of the country’s most important textile industrial base. Located in the central part of Zhengzhou, the west old industrial base, which built in 1950 s, once is essential of the Zhengzhou’s industries. More than 40 factories gathered in the region, such as five cotton factories, Zhengzhou cable factory and other large state-owned key enterprises. Till to the early days of china’s opening, these factories has been a pillar industry in Zhengzhou. The production level of the cotton spinning, grinding wheel, cable manufacturing, machinery manufacturing and other field all reached the top of at that time. All the factories made a great contribution to the local area. With the deepening of china’s reform, these famous industrial base has gradually lost its glory of the past. The development is some good and some bad, and some become the backbone of related fields, at the same time other factories are facing transition and adjustment, and more have already been gone or disappeared...This topic is based on the yearly subject of Zhengzhou Academy of social science: "The Conservation of Existing Modern Industrial Heritage of Urban Zhengzhou Investigation and Research". The author fully participated in the subject, and also is one of the main finisher. During more than one year, research team had instituted inquiries on the existing industrial heritage. Finally we had completed the study and written a research report. In the process the author expanded preliminary research on the conservation of existing modern industrial heritage in urban Zhengzhou.Zhengzhou’s industrial heritage protection and investigation started late, with the development of large areas of urban land demanded, many heritages incured great damage. Most of the heritages looked really not well. The article targets to put forward the feasible plan of the protection and reuse of Zhengzhou’s industrial heritage: Planning an exhibition on the existing modern industrial heritage in Zhengzhou to publicize their important value and significance, based on research on relevant theory of the industrial heritage and combined with the museum display method and the completed research reports. The industrial heritage can be described as a distinctive business card, especially for Zhengzhou, a city pulled out by train. Finally, based on the exhibition, the author provides proposal to seek the integration strategy on transformation and reuse of the industrial heritage in Zhengzhou City.
