Ego-Depletion Under Different Types Of Forgiveness Inclination

Self-control means the ability of an individual to control one’s impulse, desire and habituation reactions. Controlling yourself will wear down one’s mental energy so that cause the ego-depletion along with the decline of executive function.Based on the character of individual, forgiveness inclination is a way to stop being angry at oneself by using the mercy when the individual is offended.According to the high-low score of the two separated scale-forgive oneself and forgive others, this study divides the forgiveness inclination into four types, divides the ego-depletion into high-low depletion by emotion- regulation. Referred to the dual-task performance experiment, two experiments were conducted to study the influence of self-depletion under different types of forgiveness inclination on the basic cognition and social cognition.The main conclusions were as follows:1.there were significant differences among the self-depletion under different types of forgiveness inclination. The strength of Self-depletion reduce in turn under high-level forgive oneself and forgive others,high-level forgive oneself and low-level forgive others, low-level forgive oneself and high-level forgive others.2.Taking the working memory capacity in the computation span task as dependent variable,the forgiveness inclination and ego-depletion as independent variable,the ego-depletion under different self-forgiveness inclination and forgiveness-others inclination has no significant influences on basic cognition.3.Taking the working memory capacity in the computation span task as dependent variable,the forgiveness inclination and ego-depletion as independent variable, the ego-depletion under different forgiveness inclination has significant influences on basic cognition.4.Taking the score of indiscreet remark in the indiscreet remark task as dependent variable, the forgiveness inclination and ego-depletion as independent variable,the ego-depletion under different self-forgiveness inclination and forgiveness-others inclination has significant influences on social cognition.5.Taking the score of indiscreet remark in the indiscreet remark task as dependent variable, the forgiveness inclination and ego-depletion as independent variable,the ego-depletion under different forgiveness inclination has significant influences on social cognition.6.There were significant differences of the effects on basic cognition and social cognition aroused by ego-depletion under different forgiveness inclination.
