"Confession Consciousness" is derived from the Christian "Original Sin Theory". Under the guidance of Confession Consciousness, the western civilization repents to God so as to search for the metaphysical meaning of life by washing their soul. Although the Western Christianity has an influence on the appearance of Chinese "Confession Consciousness", it is not pure exotic. Under the influence of traditional Chinese cultural context, the Chinese traditional "Introspection" has formed a unique "Confession Consciousness" with Chinese characteristics after the absorbing and learning from Western confession consciousness.Western Confession Literature is roughly developing along Augustinian’s religious confession, Rousseau’s secular confession and Tolstoyan’s humanized confession, the main three directions of the confession. Humanitarian, the ideological system that focused on the humanity and humanism has a close relationship with the development of confession -that is, the generation of the Confession Consciousness is the sublimation of the humanitarian during its development, and the content of humanitarian affects the way how does Confession Consciousness come into being. Influenced by Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, Traditional Chinese culture advocates inherent goodness which helps the intellectuals with a kind of self-discipline.Under the influence of the theory. of "Goodness", the confession consciousness shown in Chinese traditional culture has their own characteristics, for example, if a man commits a crime, he will ask for the punishment consciously and does the confession by himself so as to spiritual extricating. The moral self-discipline of "Self-reflection" and "examining ourselves in three approaches a day" have already become important way for the Chinese traditional intellectuals to realize and improve their moral self-improvement.In contemporary China, the confession consciousness has already lost its existence foundation because of that the history catastrophe interrupted the confession and strong political discourse limited the development of the humanity which made the literature became forbidden zone. In suffering, the disruption of people’s spirit makes the confession consciousness filled with irrational ignorance and superstition, that is to say confession has become a self-humiliation. With the end of the Cultural Revolution, Chinese literature has entered a new era. The trauma literature and the introspective literature begin to confess the sin of the Cultural Revolution from different aspects and reflect on the enormous disaster of the degeneration of human during the Cultural Revolution. People’s confession shows up in a way of collective complaint.The new-period literature began to shake off the bonds of the history trauma after the trauma literature and the introspective literature and to review the Chinese literature with even a broader perspective. Instead of influenced of the history environment, the literature writing attitude was more focused on the excavation of humanity.According to the confession characters in society, Chinese writer’s confession images can be divided into four types:For the history participants, redeem themselves through confession; for the civilians, redeem themselves through confession; for the poor people, redeem themselves through ethics type confession and for the avengers, redeem themselves soul redemption confession. Due to differences of the confessor’s social roles, so the ways that the confessors do are totally different.The confession consciousness in Chinese literature develops into a new period after a historical unrest. And the ethical confession from the secular and moral aspects of humanity began to get more close to the humanity confession with a conscious sense of sin. But the Chinese orthodox culture in politics has ever been a lack of mature confession consciousness under the excessive squeeze of the politics. So in some degree, the experience that the Chinese literature learns from Western literature and the transplantation from confession consciousness have a positive impact on Chinese literature, but if we want to achieve the Chinese literature transformation from the traditional literature to modern Chinese literature, Chinese intellectuals need to keep looking for the special cultural characteristics of the Chinese literature with the relentless reflection attitude.
