The inscriptions of tombstone is one important part of epitaph.Because of forbidding monument, the epitaph become very popular after Wei Jin dynasty.The beautiful covers of epitaph become more and more.In Tang Dynasty, the shape of tablet which is a square base with a trapeziform cover has been very mature.The text and the cover of epitaph usually use jointly.The inscriptions of tombstone always carved by the seal script which is very elegant, refined and cultured.Between them, Li Yangbing’s seal character is the best.However, the inscriptions of the late maid-in-waiting whose style is quite different from normal.It is utterly exaggerated, casual and chic.They have added new vigor for Tang Dynasty Epitaphs.This paper is divided into five chapters, carries on the analysis from the origin about the inscriptions of tombstone, composition, the structure,and the pen. At the same time,we will reveal the shortcomings of the inscriptions which is carved for the late maid-in-waiting,in order to accept or reject in learning. And discovering the instructive meaning for contemporary calligraphy and seal cutting. To fill the gaps of the late maid-in-waiting epitaph in the calligraphy history research.
