In the 1990s, female writing had become increasingly popular and female literature showed a boom landscape. Female writers express their words inseparable from the "maternal theme", then a lot of influential women writers began to rethink and rewrite the maternal topic. Xu Xiaobin is a representative member. She created a number of vicious mother images, at the same time, she was not completely disappointed with mother. She also created a number of virtuous mother images, lines showing the desire for maternal love. In this article, from the angle of mother, based on a close reading of the text, we try to make a systematic analysis and interpretation about mother images generated and writing in Xu Xiaobin’s novels.This article firstly makes a brief introduction about the current situation of the study Xu Xiaobin’s novels, put forward the importance of the research on mother writing in Xu Xiaobin’s novels. And the main body of this article divides into three chapters.The first chapter analyzes the reasons for Xu Xiaobin mother concept generation, and summarized mother types in her novels. Childhood experiences without maternal love make Xu Xiaobin feels doubt about the existence of divine mother in reality, while Western Feminism and Women Writers tide of writing evil mother have become a booster for vicious mother writing of Xu Xiaobin. This attitude of suspecting mother have a great influence on Xu Xiaobin’s novels, which make up two opposite images of mother.The second chapter is mainly to specific interpret the images of vicious mother, from text rendering and the characters formation of the evil mother. According to mother own behavior and the relationship between mother and daughter, the evil mother images can be summarized into three types:hostile mother, hypocritical mother and variable mother. These variant, distorted mothers and maternal love show gloomy humanity that is hidden behind the glorious image, and deconstructs the heavenliness and sublime of traditional motherhood. These evil mother is not born, the becoming about distortion of personality and twisted motherhood related to family, social, psychological and other aspects of deep-seated reasons.The third chapter discusses the three ways of looking for maternal love. The first way is searching for "alternative mother"; the second way is self-salvation under matriarchy; the third way is return to the original mother images. The course of looking for mothers, however, were not well. The embrace of "alternative mother" is temporary, and not a substitute for daughters’ deep feelings to real mothers. In order to get a mother’s understanding and recognition, the second way needs alter ego, but this can easily lead to lose yourself. The road of searching for mother finally returned to the original mother’s arms, then Xu Xiaobin finally got a habitat.The epilogue summarizes the maternal concept of Xu Xiaobin and the writing of mother images and discusses the uniqueness and literary value of looking for maternal love, placed women writing background in the eighties and nineties.
