Lexical Gap, refer to the language itself and the national or cultural differences, lead to semantic items’ vacancy when transferring one language to another. I was working as a teacher teaching Chinese to students who speak other languages, my routine work is to transfer Chinese into English, then teach my students to transform English back into Chinese. But it is not so simple as it is described, so it is necessary to discuss about it. When we transfer one language into other language, we will definitely meet the situation that we don’t know how to explain vocabulary in our native language, and that is maybe a sign showing that you have encountered with a problem. But what is lexical gap.’ Language is a social phenomenon, is a carrier and an essential part of culture.’There are always similarities and differences between two different national cultures. But as the user and inventor of language, human being is affected by its own nationality, and will create their own national culture features. And how these items lead to this problem. Besides’what’ and ’why’, we shall discuss ’how’. How to cope with lexical gap? With the gradually rising communication between people of different culture background, feature of a national culture will blend with that of another national culture, cultural analysis of vocabularies will be much more important.As a teacher of OTCSL, to some extent, I found that teaching is translating, but I use diversified methods to translate, but to its essence, I still have to transfer one into another. So during my teaching courses, I still have to take lexical gap into account, and I found that it is hard to find totally equivalent terms between two languages, all these will lead to the misunderstanding of my students, so this article will also discuss lexical gap in TCSL courses, and try to find out a appropriate way to help solve this problem.
