A Study On The Comparability Of Paper & Pencil Test And Computerized Test Of The New Hsk Based On Score Analysis

With the on-going promotion of Chinese language and traditional culture all over the world, the new Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) nowadays is developed and reached maturity as an important criterion of teaching evaluation, study and promotion, it also is a ability test of language which faced to the whole world.In order to adapt the constant development of multimedia society, HanBan had developed the Computerized test of the new HSK on November 2010 with the promotion of Paper & Pencil test. The Computerized test of the new HSK has the same examination paper, total points and examination time compared to the Paper & Pencil test, but it used computer to present paper and answer questions. Under the situation of the substantial increased number every year, it is particularly important of a fair, credible, effective examination form.The Internet test of the new HSK provides a new choice and more convenient to the examinees and universities, but there is still lack of studies about the comparability between Paper & Pencil test and Computerized test of the new HSK, do the different examination forms have different effects on the score.This paper selected out 29 test samples which has a large amount of examinees based on the data of examinees who join the new HSK (Paper & Pencil test or Computerized test) in 2014, then analysis of this data by social science statistics software SPSS. The result show, generally, the scores of the Computerized test is higher than the Paper & Pencil test, where a higher score listening and writing portions of the Computerized test is more obvious differences but reading portion isn’t. This paper argues that the Computerized test use headsets to test listening is the reason why the scores of it is higher. The different manners of reading bring out different result in reading portion. Furthermore, use keyboard to answer the question of writing is same like use multi-media device to communicate such as telephone and computer, that maybe the main reason why the scores of the Computerized is higher.With the increasing number of examinees and their information of study, the research of comparability between the Paper&Pencil test and the Computerized test will be more perfect and accurate, I hope this paper can provide reference for the latter study.
